Lighting Up Profits - Understanding Greenhouse Lighting
This book represents the underlying biology, technology options for shade and lighting, and the developments in greenhouse lighting from leading scientists, manufacturers, and growers. The intended audience includes growers, technical industry representatives, and undergraduate university students.
In the first chapter of the book you can test your knowledge with two simple case studies. The chapter goes into details about the measuring of light, light units, and how much light is present in different locations.
Several research highlights are presented throughout the book to show how horticultural research is generating new information in greenhouse lighting. Each chapter finishes with study questions that help you review key information.
Aside from covering the light management of specific crops, the book also discusses the biology of photosynthesis and photoperiod, and describes options and costs of different lighting and carbon dioxide technologies.
